About Us.
Slow Roll Buffalo launched in 2014, inspired by the national model originating in Detroit, MI., and was the catalyst for the group ride bicycling culture in Buffalo. Over the last ten years, more than 1000 riders have participated in our Monday Night Community Rides and special events, and as a result, we are now seen as a model for new Slow Roll chapters nationwide.
Wheel B Herd d/b/a Slow Roll Buffalo is a New York State registered 501c3 and IRS charitable organization run by an all-volunteer Board of Directors. All donations are tax-deductible.
Connecting People, Places & Causes
Slow Roll Buffalo is an inclusive, action-oriented nonprofit that connects people, places, and causes in Western New York through a shared love of bicycling. The causes given voice at our rides have ranged from legislation such as Clean Slate, NY to the Humboldt Parkway Restoration Project. We work hard to build and maintain close community connections in all neighborhoods. A powerful example of this impact was our ability to mobilize support quickly following the Racist Mass Shooting at Tops in May 2022.
We knew who to contact to help find neighbors who could support those needing grocery delivery. We alerted our riders and network that in place of the Monday ride, we were turning the ride location into a food distribution center. We started a GoFundMe and delivered food for the next week in collaboration with existing community partners. Within a week, we called the local bike organizations to ride, share stories, commemorate the fallen, and grieve together. We value the trust developed over many years of working together and our ability to see how we make a difference in our community.

Slow Roll Buffalo works hard maintains an excellent safety record. Our SQUAD of over 100 volunteers, including expert mechanics, is trained to help all riders - from children to seniors, succeed. We are knowledgeable and connected to our city’s neighborhoods and intentionally manage every detail to provide a fun and healthy experience where no one is left behind. Our committed sponsors and our after-party market keep our Monday night rides free so we can grow the diverse, multicultural, and authentic experience we all love.
